Privacy & Participant Safety
How we protect the young people, families, volunteers, and supporters who make the Connecticut River Challenge possible.
The Connecticut River Challenge is organized by Venture Crew 261 as a youth-serving adventure fundraiser. Protecting the privacy and safety of youth participants is a foundational commitment of the event. This page describes how personal information, images, medical details, tracking, and form data are handled.
Youth personal information
Names, contact details, ages, schools, addresses, and other personal information for youth participants will not be published on this website, on social media, or in event materials without the appropriate permission of a parent or guardian and event leadership.
Medical and emergency information
Any medical or emergency information collected for participation is kept private and shared only with authorized event leaders and, when necessary, emergency responders. It is never posted publicly and is not shared with sponsors, volunteers, or the general public.
Images and names
Photographs, videos, and identifying names that include youth participants will only be published with appropriate permission. Anyone who prefers not to appear in event photos or social media can let the event team know at any time.
Public tracking
Public tracking uses one approved event device (a lead canoe or safety craft) rather than the individual locations of youth paddlers. Individual youth GPS positions are not shared publicly. Event leadership maintains separate private safety-tracking procedures.
Form information
Information submitted through the Stay Informed and Contact forms is stored securely and restricted to authorized event leaders of Venture Crew 261. It is used only to respond to your message, coordinate participation, and share event updates you have requested. It is not sold or shared with outside organizations.
